Today I met with Alex Jelilian, he is a 17 year old senior at Wilton High School. Alex is the cross-country team captain at WHS. He was involved in the Civil Air Patrol and would like to be a pilot.

Alex joined Boy Scouts when he was in 2nd grade. The thing that he enjoyed most about being a scout is all the friendships and connections he made with new friends through camp outs. Some important things that Alex learned from being a scout was to always be prepared and that there will always be ups and downs as in life and that Scouts teaches you how to be prepared.

Some things that Alex would change about scouts is to possibly run meetings more efficiently and to spend more time on Merit Badges.

Some of his most memorable events happened on Sequassen camp outs while hanging out with friends.

Alex’s Eagle project was to build new benches at Woodcock Nature Center. He completed his project in July 2020. 21 scouts helped complete the project, in total it took 3 days and 181 hours of work.

I asked Alex if he could offer any advice to the younger scouts in the troop, what would it be? He said that to “stick with it to get Eagle and that it’s always good to think ahead and have a plan for rank advancements and merit badges”.
